Göttingen University provides an internet account for students, which can be used for many services. However, not every person is allowed access to an account. The following students receive a regular, free internet account:

• students of Göttingen University

• guest auditors at Göttingen University

After your matriculation you can pick up your account information at the chip card issue point (in the main lecture hall building). Please bring both your ID card or passport and your certificate of enrolment so that our advisors can check your identity. Then, you'll receive both your student ID (chip card) and your internet account information. Account information will never be sent out by mail or email.

The following students may have access to an external account (costs: 12 Euro per semester):

• students at HAWK (University of Applied Sciences and Arts)

• students at PFH (Private University of Applied Science)

• students at Göttingen university of cooperative education (Berufsakademie)

• students at Göttingen Administrative School

• students at Göttingen university of applied science at DRK (German Red Cross)

• participants of Göttingen University of the Third Age

• (school) students of Institutes in Göttingen

• inhabitants of accomodations of the student service organization (Studentenwerk) (rental fee includes costs for the account)

Persons who would like to receive an external account will have to pay 12 Euros per semester. Since we will accept cash only in exceptional cases, please pay with your student ID or a guest chip card. To pick up your account information, please bring your authorisation (e. g. student ID of your university, rental agreement of an accomodation of the student service organization etc.) with you to the chip card issue point (in the main lecture hall building).

You can also use your external account for printing. To print, you have to transfer money to your printing account.

Should you not belong to one of the groups above, you can still get a time-restricted guest account at the LRC SUB help desk. This guest account allows you to use the computers in the learning resources centres. However, you'll neither get an e-mail address nor a printing account.
