PIN/TAN list(s)
After matriculation students at Göttingen University will receive a PIN/TAN list together with their student ID and their studIT account. TAN stands for transaction number and works as a one-time password to use certain personalised functions online in a secure way. By using your personal TANs you are able to change your password or generate certificates at the self-service functions (matriculation certificate or BAFöG certificate etc.). You'll also need your TAN list for signing up for exams on FlexNow. That is why you should store your TAN list at a safe place and prevent any third party person from having access to it!
Please keep your last transaction numbers to generate yourself a new list at the self-service functions. This procedure is comparable to online banking. After you have used a TAN for a transaction, cross it out, because you cannot use it twice.
If you have accidentally used up all TANs and cannot create a new TAN list, or in case you have lost your list, you can come to the chip card issue point, where a new TAN list can be generated and printed out for you. Please note that, in general, you should use your entire list and only use the studIT service in the above-mentioned cases when necessary. After receiving a new list the former TAN list will not be valid anymore.
