After matriculation students at Göttingen University will receive a PIN/TAN list together with their student ID and their studIT account. TAN stands for transaction number and works as a one-time password to use certain personalised functions online in a secure way. By using your personal TANs you are able to change your password or generate certificates at the self-service functions (matriculation certificate or BAFöG certificate etc.). You'll also need your TAN list for registration for examinations on FlexNow. That is why you should store your TAN list at a safe place and prevent any third party person from having access to it!

If you have used up all TANs or have lost your list, you can come to the chip card issuing point, where a new TAN list can be generated and printed out for you. Please note that, in general, you should use your entire list and only use the studIT service in the above-mentioned cases when necessary. After receiving a new list the former TAN list will not be valid anymore.
