PIN/TAN list(s) After matriculation students at Göttingen University receive a PIN/TAN list with their student ID and their studIT account. TAN stands for transaction number and functions as a one-time password to use certain personalised functions online in a safe way. By using your personal TANs you are able to change your password or generate certificates at the self-service functions (matriculation certificate or BAFöG certificate etc.). You also need your TAN list for registration for examination on FlexNow. That is why you should store your TAN list at a safe place and prevent a third party from gaining access to it!

Please keep your last transaction numbers to generate yourself a new list at the self-service functions. You see, this procedure is similar to online banking.

If you used all TANs or have lost your list, you could come to the chip card issuing point, where a new TAN list can be generated and printed out for you. Please note that you should use your entire list under normal circumstances and only use the service in the above-mentioned cases when necessary. After receiving a new list the former TAN list is not valid anymore.

Attention: When generating a new TAN list at the chip card issuing point your password is being resetted as well. You can find your new password on your new TAN list. After that we strongly recommend to change this computer-generated password to your personal password at the self-service functions, but NOT to your old one!
