Your password

As soon as you are enrolled, you have the right to a studIT account. You will receive the first password together with the student ID.

Attention: Password change is currently only possible at https://id.academiccloud.de/ First log in with stud. Email address, then change the password under “Security”.

You should change the initial password you received promptly at https://id.academiccloud.de and choose a personal password. Tips for good passwords can be found at the bottom of this page.

We often noticed problems when using eduroam when using umlauts (ä,ö,ü). The Radius authentication server doesn't always seem to accept umlauts. So please avoid umlauts in your passwords! Also, under no circumstances should you use parts of your (account) name in the password!

You can change the password at any time at https://id.academiccloud.de/.

If you've forgotten your password or your login doesn't work, just come to one of our advice locations, we'll be happy to help you! If you cannot come to us but need a new password, please contact the Studium Infoline on 0551 39 113 or infoline-studium@uni-goettingen.de Please note the opening times.

We will never send a link asking you to change your password. We also do not send passwords by email or post. To reset your password, you must come to our helpdesk in person or contact the infoline.

Current password guidelines

Please note our following guidelines when setting a new password:

  • at least 10 characters (uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits)
  • a maximum of 20 characters
  • at least 1 special character
  • only allowed characters (a-Z 0-9 !?@(){}\/=~$#*-+.,_)
  • Password does not contain parts of the username

Password leaks

Time and again, passwords on different systems are stolen and published in so called “leaks”. There are institutions that can check wether your email address has appeard in leaks. The Hasso-Plattner-Institute at the University of Potsdam operates a database like this. One can enter their email address and will receive reply, if the address has appeared in any leaks.
