To set up your student mail account as an Exchange account on iOS devices, follow these steps:

• Add Account
• Microsoft Exchange

• E-mail: Your student e-mail address in the form accountname@stud.uni-goettingen.de (e.g. m.musterfrau@stud.uni-goettingen.de)
• Description: Any description

• Configure manually

• Password: The password of your student account
• Continue

• Server: email.gwdg.de
• Domain: ug-student
• User name: account name (e.g. m.musterfrau)
• Continue

• Save

To set up your student mail account as an Exchange account on iOS devices, follow these steps:

• Login

• Password: The password of your student account
• Continue

• Server: email.gwdg.de
• Domain: ug-student
• User name: account name (e.g. m.musterfrau)
• Continue

• Save

Mail setup on your iOS device is now complete. If you now press the Home button and select Mail, all mail accounts set up on the device will be displayed. If you tap on the newly set up mailbox, the inbox will be displayed.

• Select period

To set up your student mail account on the iPhone or iPad as an IMAP account tap Settings in the Start menu, scroll down to Mail, Contacts, Calendar and then tap Add Account…

Create the account

Select Others from the list. Now you can enter the basic information of your university mail account:

• Name: Your first name and last name
• Address: Your student e-mail address in the form accountname@stud.uni-goettingen.de (e.g. m.musterfrau@stud.uni-goettingen.de)
• Password: The password of your student account
• Description: Any description

Then tap Save. Set server settings for incoming and outgoing mails

Under the IMAP tab, set the following settings:

Server for incoming mails

• hostname: email.gwdg.de
• Username: ug-student\account name (e.g. ug-student\m.samplewoman)
• Password: The password of the student account

Server for outgoing mails

• hostname: email.gwdg.de
• Username: ug-student\account name (e.g. ug-student\m.samplewoman)
• Password: The password of the student account

Then tap Save.

The settings are checked and can then be edited further.

Activate SSL encryption for the inbox…

Tap on the newly created account and select Advanced

Under the item Settings for incoming mails activate SSL by moving the switch to the right. Enter 993 as server port. Then tap Account in the upper left corner to return to the previous menu.

…and also for the outgoing mail Under the item Server for outgoing mails select the entry SMTP and in the following selection tap on email.gwdg.de

Here you can also activate SSL by moving the switch to the right. As server port enter 587. Now tap on Done in the upper right corner to save the settings.

Open the mailbox

If you now press the Home button and select Mail, all mail accounts set up on the device are displayed. If you tap on the newly set up mailbox, the inbox will be displayed.
